Diving Maratua – Kakaban – Sangalaki

Diving Maratua – Kakaban – Sangalaki will be the main sites we will dive on the Dive UK Travel Borneo Holiday. The Derawan islands are made up of 31 small islands, a small tropical paradise some may say. Due to it not being one of the easiest places to travel too you don’t get to many divers there, it was 3 days before we see another diver which is great for the underwater world but I’m sure this won’t last for long because this is one amazing place to Scuba Dive.

Diving Kakaban Island is where you will see the big schools of Jacks and Barracuda, often you can have 2 currents meeting which brings food and its why you will often see Grey reef sharks here. This is also where we see the Thresher Shark too. Kakaban has some really nice reef too, nice wall dives and a huge sandy bottom where you will see the big school of Barracuda.

Diving Sangalaki Island, this is where you can be lucky to see Manta rays, Sangalaki is also where the Turtle Sanctuary is. There is nobody living on this island apart from the Government Rangers who work with the Turtles. This place really is a tropical paradise, it a very small island and often you have a 10 min walk to the island because the boat cannot get too close because of the shallow water. This place will blow anybodies mind.

Diving Maratua is where we will dive most, there are several islands and the main island looks like a huge horse shoe. With the dive sites being very varied this is also where you will see Turtle beach and some of the most amazing inlets. It’s just tropical, magical its hard to find words to descried such a beautiful place and the dives are fantastic.
